Once the referral is received, an assessment appointment with one of our therapists will be arranged or we will signpost to another service. The assessment appointment will last approximately one hour and will be either in person, via telephone or video call. The purpose of the assessment is to understand the difficulties and look at what would be helpful. Sensitive information may be discussed, therefore if the appointment is held via telephone or video call we would recommend a private space.
Below are some of the things we ask about:
- What symptoms and difficulties someone is experiencing
- Routines and daily life such as sleep, appetite, and activity levels
- Safety considerations
- How things are at nursery/school/college
- Family life and friendships/relationships
- Early history (development and milestones)
- What support is felt to be needed
Following the assessment, we will discuss treatment options and agree a plan.
If you have any questions about the assessment process you can contact us on 0191 283 2937.
