Stronger Schools
Stronger Schools provides teachers and school staff with pathways to recognise and respond to the wellbeing needs of children in their school. Local educators, health and wellbeing professionals, and support agencies have shared their expertise and local knowledge to adapt the pathways for South Tyneside and Sunderland schools. While the site is not available to share with families, it does contain resources to print and give to families.
ALL STAFF within South Tyneside schools have access to this website and each school should have received their own personal log in. If you have misplaced this or not received it, please email necsu.

NEW FROM STRONGER SCHOOLS:
- A new bullying pathway to help school staff confidently respond to bullying at every level of need - from prevention, to early intervention, to more complex or persistent situations. View the content here.
- The newly developed Autism pathway is specifically designed to support professionals working with children who have both a formal diagnosis and emerging, unmet needs. Importantly, all of the strategies are adaptable, enabling educators to respond to the diverse and evolving needs of every student in their care.
- The new Trauma pathway is designed to guide users through a sensitive, tiered approach to addressing trauma within their communities or organisations. This page features practical tools, guidance, and real-world examples to help professionals recognise the spectrum of trauma responses and apply appropriate interventions. Whether you’re seeking strategies for early recognition, de-escalation, or long-term support, this page offers clear pathways and up-to-date best practices to empower informed, compassionate responses at every stage.
- The Drug and Alcohol Use topic page provides guidance on what alcohol and drug misuse can look like, parental substance misuse, classroom resources to support discussion with students, including lesson plans, and resources to support and inform families. It also offers guidance on which support services can be contacted by schools, as well as community support and support group options for families.
