LGBTQ+ People

Lots of people in the LGBTQ+ community experience common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression. Being LGBTQ+ is not a direct cause of these difficulties, however many people can go through things like discrimination, homophobia, difficult experiences of coming out and social isolation. These experiences can hugely impact our mental wellbeing.

There are a lot of reasons that LGBTQ+ people may experience difficulty accessing healthcare. This might be because they experience being outed without their consent, experiencing negative remarks or being referred to by the incorrect pronouns. For some people, it may not be safe for them to be out, therefore confidentiality can often be a concern.
