In 2025 World Happiness Day encourages everyone to consider: caring and sharing.
When we care for others, show empathy, develop trusting relationships and share with others it can make us feel happy.
International Day of Happiness - 20 March
5 a day for mental wellbeing (GIVE, KEEP LEARNING, CONNECT, BE ACTIVE, & TAKE NOTICE) helps us to consider the 5 things we can do each day to help us keep well.
5 steps to mental wellbeing - NHS
5 a day:
GIVE- share your time, a smile or thanks. Offer help to a friend, your family or someone at school or college. What can you do today to help make someone feel happier?
BE ACTIVE- the more physically active we are the more we can feel better. Exercise increases your wellbeing and helps increase feel good hormones (Endorphins). What can you do to get the feel-good factor?
TAKE NOTICE-Take notice of the things that make you feel happy and try to do more of these things. Laugher helps us feel happy too. Could you try 5 minute’s of laugher yoga? Keep a note of how happy you feel after you try things
KEEP LEARNING- Sometimes learning a new skill or sport, reading a new book or learning from other people about what makes them feel happy. Think about what you would like to learn about?
CONNECT- connect with others. How will you get in touch today? With permission and help from a trusted adult could you see them to say hello, call or text them or leave a voice message
