4 day Foundation In Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Training

The Children and Young People’s Primary Care Mental Health Service will be facilitating a 4-day foundation training in Cognitive Behaviour Approaches. The training consists of four full days, 9.30am- 4.30pm and will be delivered in a venue in Gateshead. Facilitated by Cognitive Behaviour Therapists employed within the Children and Young People’s Primary Care Mental Health Service provided by South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust.

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is used to treat mental health conditions such as anxiety and low mood Aims:
· To offer an overview of the theories embedded in CBT and a range of tools to offer support to young people and their families
· To explore CBT approaches to understand the interaction between thoughts, feelings and behaviours. To increase understanding on CBT focuses on working through specific current problems and finding solutions for them
· To offer an opportunity to practice and develop core clinical competencies and skills, which includes basic 5 area formulation to support young people primarily with anxiety and low mood
· To recognise the contribution all practitioners can make to improving children and young people’s mental health
