April is Stress Awareness Month
Stress is what happens when life feels too busy or too hard. Your body and mind try to keep up, but sometimes it becomes too much. When you are stressed, you might feel tired, worried, or upset. Stress does not mean you are weak. It just means you have been dealing with a lot, and you need some time and support to feel better. Exam Stress for Young People
Feeling the pressure of GCSEs or A‑Levels this spring?
You’re not alone. When you care about doing well—and everyone around you keeps talking about grades—it’s completely normal to feel stressed. That pressure can build up even when you’re working hard and doing everything “right.”
Some of our therapists are studying at university right now, so they really understand what academic pressure feels like. These are the strategies they use themselves—and recommend to young people—to help you stay steady through exam season:
-
Listen to calming music if that is your thing
- Prepare a revision timetable
- Take time away from studies
- Get up early to allow for any setbacks on the day of the exam
- Practice good sleep hygiene
- Plan in some 'worry time' if you feel you need it
- Eat well before an exam
