Changes to the NHS neurodevelopmental diagnostic pathway in South Tyneside

From 1st May 2026, Lifecycle will no longer accept referrals for assessments of autism or ADHD.

  • Any referrals received by our service for a neurodevelopmental assessment will not be accepted.

  • If an NHS neurodevelopmental assessment is needed, referrals should now be made directly to the Children and Young People’s Service (CYPS), or via the newly created pathway via schools.

For parents, carers, and young people:
Please speak to your school or GP to access an NHS neurodevelopmental assessment.

Our Lifecycle services will continue to offer emotional and mental health support alongside any assessment undertaken by another service, so please do not struggle while waiting.
