Living Life to the Full

As part of our whole school approach to mental health and wellbeing, the Healthy Minds Team deliver the ‘Living Life to the Full’ workshop.

This is an evidence-based workshop based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques which looks at the link between thoughts, feelings and behaviours. A diagram of arrows with wordsAI-generated content may be incorrect.

This is a six-week workshop providing young people simple, practical skills for coping with stress, problem-solving, boosting their mood and challenging unhelpful thoughts that can keep us ‘stuck’. The sessions cover:

  1. The Vicious Cycle of feeling stressed / low
  2. Things to make you feel better, 10 things to make you feel happier
  3. Looking at things differently, 123 breathe
  4. Building inner confidence
  5. How to fix almost everything
  6. Things you do that help

Ways you can support at home: Parents/Carers to encourage problem-solving at home by supporting your child to independently identify possible solutions to their problem, then making a plan for the best solution. Additionally, parents/carers can support children in practising the strategies at home such as recognising helpful (I can try my best) and unhelpful thoughts (I can’t do it; it is too hard) and breathing strategies e.g. five finger breathing and box breathing.
